The GKN Fokker Elmo Engineering department is looking for an ambitious Manager- Engineering Resources and Capability Development who wants to apply his/her skills to the growth of the department.


The core responsibility of the Engineering department is designing the Electrical (Wiring) Interconnection Systems for aircraft (-sections) and aero engine applications. In this capacity, we are not only serving our current (legacy) programs, but also have a strong focus on new programs that support our ambitions towards sustainable aviation. The first steps in this journey can bee seen in our increasing participation in new programs that deal with smaller (Hybrid) Electrical aircraft and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) vehicles.


The programs of our current and new customers require additional focus on an increased and fluctuating engineering capacity, that is adjusted to the ever-changing needs of the customer programs, and the development of the capability to introduce new green sustainable aerospace EWIS technologies.

Functie

Mission

As a Manager – Engineering Resources and Capability Development, your task will be toensure the availability of engineering resources with the appropriate skillset needed by the differentprograms. These resources could be engineers that are located in the team in the Netherlands, orengineers deployed from an external (GKN) company. In this role you act as an intermediar between the Centre of Competence (CoC) Managers of the different Engineering discplines and the human resources, either within GKN or in the market (i.e. resource suppliers, agencies, etc.)


You will support the definition of the demand and the allocation of the Engineering resources in close

cooperation with the CoC Managers of the different disciplines. You are responsible for the coordination of recruitment of new resources via GKN and external providers. Further you will set-up and coordinate the outsourcing of work packages or activities of engineering work to other GKN engineering sites or external service providers. You will be the owner of the department capability development plan, and coordinate together with the CoC Managers the training plan of the Engineering department. This includes the set-up and coordination of internal traineeship programs and the management of the internal training approach and content. You will support the on-boarding of new employees in the Engineering organization.


The Engineering department consists of 60 engineers of different levels and will grow in 2023 to 90-110 employees. The place of work will at the GKN Fokker Elmo Head Quarters in Hoogerheide – The Netherlands (and after the transfer of GKN Fokker Elmo to a new site somewhere Q3-Q4 2023, Papendrecht – The Netherlands), where you will report to the Director of EWIS Engineering.

Work experience:

• 5-10 years working experience in resource and capability management, preferably at the boundaries of an Engineering- and HR- environment;


Soft skills:

• Teamwork: Able to lead the resource and capability management tasks in the Engineering Leadership Team, taking responsibility for assigned tasks and goals and strong communication with the different disciplines (e.g. HR, Engineering) inside as well as outside GKN Aerospace;

• Results-driven: Able to plan own work in line with requested schedules and report progress regularly and timely in the event of issues or delays;

• Self-learning: Willing to learn and explore, share knowledge with colleagues and improve yourself;

• Communication: Fluent English in speech and writing, ability to communicate clearly and concisely with flair and forthcomingness.


Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Resource and Capability Management or equivalent expertise level obtained through appropriate work experience in subject field.
